Muley-Mini strips 3/2/2013

Hi,
Well, the flu has had me knocked out for the past week.  When I wake up, I use my phone to access Facebook or other websites, and those sites show me that folks don't know the language they are speaking (or typing), so I'm going to be a grammar cop and post a few items of interest up for a while.
This first one:  If you know your English, you will have no problem understanding this now.
Know, no, now your Engrish.

And, of course, a little snow falls and everyone freaks out.  Yes, this is the scene in our town when it snows...
We like to call it the "blizzard-ocolypse."

Valentine's Day = Trouble!

Valentine's Day, that holiday which is the precursor of spring, and we all know what happens when spring is sprung!  Flowers come to bloom, warmer weather, sun shine, and sap rises in the trees.  That's right, the heart turns to fancy your crush.  Sometimes.  And then there's that whole other side of things where love is unrequited, your flowers fade, sun turns to rain, and all is gloomy.  Or, you want to punch someone.  Either way...

Valentine's 2013

On this day of love, you have to wonder what could be just rotten about it?  Well, an empty mailbox for one.  Apparently, St. Valentine had to go through some really bad stuff in order to have a holiday named after him, a holiday that appeases companies like Hallmark and Whitman's Chocolates.

Well, at least it's a good day to remind one another how much we love each other in whatever relationship you're in with folks:  family, friends, dates...it all counts.  It's also a good time to do something nice for someone you like.

Mule TV? What would you watch?

So, let's say there's a Muley the Mule and Friends television show.  What would you watch?

Education for the kids that grown-ups can get into and watch with them?
Sitcom style program?
Variety/skit vignettes?
Different episodes that might mix all of these or focus on a different theme per episode?
Or, maybe something different?

What's your thoughts and ideas?  After all, we'll be doing this for you!  Discuss in the comments below, or visit us on facebook:  Muley the Mule or Kevin L. Williams.

"Wild Thing" No More...

If you've ever seen our play Muley's Talent(less) Revue, we have an act by Santa Fish performing "a duet with his dinner" as he sings the song "Wild Thing."  Fish begin swimming around frantically because they realize they are the wild things that make Santa Fish's heart sing.  He loves fish--eating them that is.

Read in the news this morning that "Wild Thing" singer Reg Presley has passed away.  Our condolences to his family, and a big thank you to Reg for giving us such great, fun, inspirational songs like "Wild Thing."

You Are Greater Than You Think!

From time-to-time, we all need a little reminder of who we are and what our value on this planet is.  I recall seeing a homeless person recently, really drunk and staggering, falling around.  It was evident that this man would end up hurting himself so contact was made to have him stop in one place and a call to the local police department who would have a better chance to help him get somewhere safe, warm, and maybe even medical attention.  The curious part of this was wondering what in life put him where he is now?  Was it lack of job, or an eager gambling problem? Lack of interest in his own life, or that from others?  Did his family try to help him and just give up because he wouldn't help himself, or did he even have family after folks finally just passed away around him?  There were just too many things to guess at and factor into his story without actually being told, by him, what his story is.

And, sometimes it's a matter of being loved, knowing someone around you cares--whether you know them or not.  Validation and appreciation is an important thing!  It makes us work harder, try harder, help harder, and be the very best we can be.  At that point, we become an inspiration to someone else--maybe even the person who inspired us to be better at what we do or who we are.  It can be a vicious cycle; but, the best cycle to revolve within.

So, our reminder to you, and a reminder that you can share with others, is that YOU ARE GREATER THAN YOU THINK!  To someone, you are important.  To us, you are important.  And as our flagship character would say, "Muley loves ya!"

Muley's Kids' Message Schedule, Feb. - Aug. 2013

As you all know, Muley often offers up the kids' message at First Congregational church (1000 South Cooper, Memphis TN 38104  901.278.6786).  These 5-minute messages usually offer up insightful looks at the Bible in an almost irreverent way, and most certainly in a fun way.  You'll never really know what Muley is going to say or do next, and it's all live.

Some folks want to know when they can come down to the church and see him, well we're offering up his schedule through August 2013.  Be sure to check back here often in case the schedule changes any.

Now you know, now you can come see the Mule in action...

First Congo makes a great church home for us as their message is love, compassion, charity, appreciation, acceptance--all those things you expect to define a church.  There is also a huge appreciation for the arts, and that is definitely something we can get behind!

The Southern Fried Train Wreck - Follow-Up

Hope everyone who visited and tuned in to The Southern Fried Train Wreck had fun with us!  Thanks to Tanya Vandesteeg and JoeDog!

As any good Train Wreck happens, we got derailed a good batch of the time, and I'm good at that.

So, we talked about a possible upcoming Muley TV show (keep your eyes peeled here in case this happens), talked about his travelling shows, conventions, and things to do around town, so I'll start posting some things up here for that.

You can first find Muley on Facebook by clicking here, or find me by clicking here.
We are also always glad to promote our co-creators in comicdom:
Martheus Wade and Janet Wade (who also help the performances of Buford the Dog and Missy Mule) and DaMarco Randle (who is a sidekick of Roy Duck).

I was proud to announce that I edit Jetta: Tales of the Toshigawa, but didn't get to mention that Martheus is teaching classes at The Comic Studio at 2547 Broad Ave, Memphis, TN 38112.  You can find details at MAWpro.com, where you can also find tutorials about working in comics.

Conventions we like to attend:
Anime Blues Con in Memphis, TN
Superman Celebration, second weekend in June, Metropolis, IL
Leland Frog Fest, Leland, MS, around Jim Henson's Birthday, September 24th
ConNooga in Chattanooga, TN
Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention, Memphis, TN
