Muley Sermon 12/24/2023

Muley retells the story of Jojo, Maymay, and Baby Jeejee. You know, the Nativity. But, he also shares that in that stable Mary must have felt "why does God let this happen." Perhaps when we feel like asking "why is God doing this?" we should take a different perspective and realize how God has helped us through all the other good things. We can always check for the good things in life and always be thankful for that.

Merry Christmas 2023

The world is in tumult all the way around.  There's nothing we could beg for harder than to find ourselves in a time of peace.  My biggest concern is that kids today have only ever grown up in a world where there has been war and death, and peace has not been consistent at all, if ever.  Even in our own hometown, we're dealing with the us vs. them, or the good vs. bad, or the issues of death rising.

Where is hope?  I always try to leave a message of hope somewhere, even on days that it's hard to find.  But, hope is in the little people around us - the kids.  What can we instill in them to change the future?

We must teach the children that the only correct things to do are the things that are done in love, compassion, sharing, friendliness, and care that we want for them.  Anything else is not worth doing.

What we should definitely teach the is that peace, love, joy, and hope are the foundations of what we should do - taught by us doing - and that we should all call for peace constantly until we get it.

And with that, we wish for

Let Freedom Read Day - Banned Books Week from Muley Reads

The first week of October 2023 is Banned Books Week featuring "Let Freedom Read Day" a day that is celebrated by taking action such as reading or buying a banned book.

According to one article, in 2022, 11 people in the whole United States has been behind a majority of book bans, making a decision on who can read what, most often without even having read the book or fact-checked the books.

While producing the series Muley Reads, we weren't aware that some of the titles suggested by kids, parents, pastors, and friends were actually going to become banned books!  Because we're both innocent and irreverent, we're proud of that fact.

Parents should decide for their own families.  Nobody should stop you from reading what you want to read, because then your ability to make your own decisions, as long as no one is getting hurt, is being taken away from you.

The books we've shared are caring, showing that there are different types of families, and are inspirational and inspiring.  Some of the other books are just for fun.  Luckily, some of the titles are ones the political parties just haven't gotten around to yet.

That being said, click the image below to read banned books while Muley Reads.
